So much amazing stuff happening in the WA and NSW Startup ecosystem at the moment around agriculture.
Agriculture startup Agworld from Perth was founded in 2008 by Doug Fitch and Chris Ramsay has raised $6m in another round from international investors Reed Elsevier and Yuuwa bringing their total funding to $12m.
Agworld provide farm management software from $62 per month and are part of a new crop of farm automation and commerce tech startups from Sydney including –
- FarmBot (by Craig Hendricks and Michael Warner) who has been backed by Telstra and graduated from their accelerator Muru-D last week who provide long distance water sensing on tanks allowing near real-time trend level management remotely. SydStart has been a supporter of Muru-D since inception with mentoring and judging.
- FoodOrbit (by James Nathan) who connect farms with unique produce to commercial end-consumers like high end restaurants has been backed by BlueChilli. SydStart supporter MarketBoomer are also backers of FoodOrbit.
